It’s been 10 years since Amazon first introduced to the customers the effectiveness of e-reading through the use of the Kindle and even nowadays this one remains a top sold item. There have been produced four different types: The Kindle, the Kindle Paperwhite, the Kindle Voyage and the Kindle Oasis. Only the last two can be reckoned as the most valuable ones for Amazon.

Seen from afar the two items are quite the same. Not when it comes to the details. The display is 1 inch bigger for the newer version, Oasis. Also, more details to add: 12 LEDs illuminating the screen opposed to the Voyage’s built-in light. The adaptive front line is what defines both Kindle, more precisely: In order to more closely resemble reading on real paper, we researched and hand-tuned the optimal brightness setting for every lighting condition. The new adaptive front light automatically adjusts the brightness of the display based on your environment and can even be fine-tuned further to your personal preferences. When reading in the dark, the adaptive front light slowly lowers the display’s brightness over time to match the way the eye responds to darkness.

Design

The design will absolutely make you love the Oasis more and keep in mind that is also waterproof resistant. Since this one reproduces the same feeling as in holding a real book by its spine it’s a big plus added to this version other than the classical plaque’s one. There are added even buttons borrowed for turning those “pages”. The Voyage also has a touchscreen and PagePress system just to turn pages; in fact those are encouraging us to keep reading without minor movements.

Specs

The previous version suffers from little space disposal; only 4GB allowed to storage while the Oasis has either 8 or 32GB and considering the occupancy of the OS which takes 1 GB, results in a minus point for the older edition. The verdict for the battery life is calculated in 30 minutes per day dedicated to reading. The Voyage can last for 6 weeks while the Oasis for more weeks but we can even say `months`.

Prices

The choice we made depends on our preferences. Either we pay £60 more for the entry price of the Oasis compared to the Voyage’s, it’s up to everyone. Should we pay more for the new special design or for the battery cover? Prices are divided according to GB added: £229 for the 8GB model, £259 for the 32GB one and 32GB Wi-Fi+3G for £319. The Voyage can be purchased at £169 for the Wi-Fi only.
