Apple never takes any breaks. The tech giant is currently developing new devices and it appears that 2018 will be a year that focuses on tablets. In order to maintain its position on the market, Apple is already working on some models, and rumour has it that the upcoming design might finally bring something new.

Let’s see what we can expect next year.

iPad core

If we take a look at the most recent iPads we can see that they come with the new A-series chips. The iPad tablets that are supposed to be released next year should come with an A11X, which is derived from the A11 Bionic. If the A11 Bionic sounds familiar, that is because iPhone X and iPhone 8 already have it.

The A11X looks very promising and it is supposed to have three high-performance CPU cores, five high-efficiency cores and it will be built with TSMC’s upcoming 7nm manufacturing process. The new chip also means more graphics cores and more RAM as well.

How will the next iPads look like?

It is never too soon to begin speculating about the designs of the upcoming models. It appears that the slim bezels are here to stay, and this trend will continue next year as well. Face ID and TrueDepth camera are also here to stay, which means that you should expect them in 2018. However, it will be interesting to see how they will be integrated in a tablet.

One thing that the new iPad won’t have will be the OLED display. As far as we are concerned, the 2018 iPad will come with an LCD display. This might be because an OLED display would be too expensive or because there are no 120 Hz mobile OLED panels yet.
