Uninstall Avast yourself
This is the regular method but in order to make sure that it works open Task Manager first, by pressing Ctrl + Alt + Del or Ctrl + Shift + Esc if you have Windows 10. Then go to Processes, find Avast and select End task.
After you have done that, press Windows key + I. Open Apps & Features. If you have an older Windows version, open Programs and Features from Control Panel. Scroll until you find Avast Free Antivirus and select Uninstall.
Finally, remove all the Avast files. Right-click on File Explorer, open View tab, click Options and open view tab on the new window. Select Show hidden files, folders and drives box. Press Windows key + R, type regedit, press Enter. Click Edit, select Find next and then type Avast. Remove all the Avast results.
Use the uninstall utility
Avast also offers an uninstall utility that is called Avast Clear. Download it, start Windows in Safe Mode and then open the avastclear.exe file from your desktop. Then, simply find the Avast default folder and select Remove. It is important the select the folder where you installed the tool, and not another one. When you are done restart the PC.
