There is still a way to install WhatsApp Messenger for older phones such as those manufactured by Nokia and Samsung. Take note that WhatsApp has ended its support for S40 and S60 phones on June 30, 2017.

From the beginning of 2018, the devices that are no longer supported by WhatsApp include Android versions that are older than 2.3.3, iPhone 3GS running iOS 6, and Windows Phone 7. From June 2017, the devices no longer supported by WhatsApp are the Nokia Symbian S60, S40, and the BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10.

Well, if you are unsure whether your phone is still supported or not, you can mimic some pointers here. You don’t need to worry if your phone is outdated, because there are a lot of smartphones from Nokia, Samsung, and BlackBerry that are still supported by this app.

If you are going to check if your device still supports WhatsApp, then you simply have to connect your device to the Internet and begin downloading the app. You will receive the proper procedure to download the app on your device if it is still supported. Otherwise, you will receive a notification denying that.

If you are going to download the app for your Samsung device, make sure that it is running at least Android 2.3.3 or newer. Likewise, you need Internet connection or a data plan to proceed. Remember that tablets, computers, wi-fi only devices, iPods, and iPads are no longer supported devices.

For Nokia S40 devices, there are a few devices able to run WhatsApp. They include the Nokia S60 3rd edition, 5th edition, Symbian Anna, or Symbian Belle OS or any higher versions of the platform.

Symbian devices will at least need Nokia Series 40 phone features or higher with Internet data plan. Vivo and Vodafone carriers in Brazil and Portugal might not be able to use WhatsApp because they are both unsupported.

For other applications, WhatsApp can be used via the desktop version. Computers, for instance, will be able to install the WhatsApp Web version of the app in order to sync with your phone. However, it requires logging in the WhatsApp account every time you open the app on the computer.
