One of Google’s newest smartphones, Pixel 2 Xl has been experiencing slow fingerprint unlocking. Owners have been reported this issue on Google Product Forums and the American giant is already working on a fix.

Pixel 2 XL has been updated with Android 8.1

Android lovers buy Google phones to be the first ones to experience the newest Android OS on the market. It seems that this time they experienced a little bad luck with the newest Android 8.1 Oreo update on Pixel 2 XL.

According to affected users, the newest OS causes about a second of delay when someone uses the fingerprint scanner. After the fingerprint is introduced, the screen should turn on instantly. After the update, users noticed the delay.

Some Pixel 2 XL owners have only expressed their frustration on official forums, while others reported it on Reddit. There are also videos on YouTube showing the delay live. The delay presented in one video is of three seconds.

Google responds

Orrin Hancock, Google Community Manager, has responded that he will personally reach out to different individuals for bug reports and more info in the situation.

A user ScottG_TC wrote on a Google Product Forum that the Pixel team is already working on solving this issue.

Pixel 2 XL owners also experienced a bootloader bug some time ago and only recently has Google fixed it. Also, last month other owners reported a sudden reboot while connecting to an LTE network.
