A brand-new update is available for Google Play Services right now. However, this update is not being rolled out the traditional OTA (over the air) way and it needs to be downloaded and installed manually. Moreover, the reason why this new update can be downloaded ahead of the public release time schedule is because Google published the APK version of it.

Google Play Services 11.7.45 APK Update

As previously mentioned, this update comes in form of APK (Android Package Kit) and Android users who want their smartphone to run smoothly should make sure to download it as soon as possible. Play Services is a key element of the Android ecosystem and this new update enhances its stability with the addition of bug fixes.

Android Package Kits (APK)

APK is the official package file format that Google uses for its operating system whenever it wants to release a new software update. Basically, APK files are a version of archived files and they come in zip format that’s based on the JAR format. In addition, APK files can be installed on Android powered devices by anyone and the installation process is similar to software.

Bug Fixes

This new update doesn’t contain any visual changes, but it does improve Play Service’s overall stability because it introduces a bunch of bug fixes. Play Services plays an important role in Google’s operating system since its used to update other apps straight from Google Play and it even provides core functionality features such as account authentication settings, synchronized contacts and user privacy settings.

With that said, Google needs to always be sure that Play Services doesn’t malfunction, and this is exactly what these new bug fixes are supposed to do. We should also mention that Android users who don’t like the idea of manually installing updates can simply wait for Google to roll out this update OTA.
