The Sims is one of the most iconic games that came out on the eve of the 21st century, not because it has the best graphics but because it is one of the first games to let the player have a God-like control over the personal life of the character or protagonist. The Sims is short for simulation, which is what it basically is. A life simulation that is eerily similar to the real world in a general sense wherein the character will be put in a ‘sandbox’ world and will be left out to develop and go through life depending on the whim of the player.

What Parents need to Know

If you are a parent and you want to know if the Sims game is for your child, then should know that in the UK and Europe the latest Sims iteration which is Sims 4 was peg to be appropriate for ages 12 and older (by PEGI) while in the USA it is rated with a T for teen (by ESRB). The game has some bits of violence and some sexual innuendoes, but all are whitewash. Even the deaths are made to appear comical to just to keep everything light.

When is the Next Sims Coming out?

More or less three years have passed since the launching of The Sims 4 for PC and Mac, and a lot of expansions in between that time and today but there is no word yet on when the Sims 5 will be coming out. However fans and patrons of The Sims game franchise are optimistic that there will be yet again another better and improved version of the game available in shelves anytime soon.

What will be the Gameplay?

The Sims 5 will probably follow the basic formula of the past four Sims which has been the reason why a lot of players fell in love with the game. However there might be better improvements since there is now an array of better gaming equipment available such as the Virtual Reality headset. Imagine being able to control your character in The Sims’ world using your own movements.

What are the fans saying?

There are some good features from older iterations of the Sims game that were removed from the Sims 4 that fans want back. And one of the most heavily requested features is the ability to explore with an open world. In The Sims 3, the character was able to explore the neighbourhood and go through stuff that wasn’t yours. You were able to spy on your neighbours and raid nearby establishment for things that you don’t need. You can even borrow some sugar if you want. Unfortunately this feature was replaced with loading screens in The Sims 4 and the illusion of being able to walk down the world was diminished.

If you have not yet played with The Sims before then you are at a lost. A lot of people have learned to love the game for its unique semblance with the real world. Some players even commented how some aspects of the game were funny to them because of how it eerily reminded them of their own experiences. Whatever the case, try a crack at The Sims game and you will see that you’ll love it too.
