British counter-terror police carried out raids in London and Kent last night. As a result of the operation 4 people were arrested on suspicions of terrorism and one woman was shot and sent to hospital in serious condition.

According to the police statement the 20-year-old woman is a subject of an ongoing investigation. Her identity was not revealed. She is not yet arrested due to her condition but she is under police guard at the hospital. No other people were injured during the operation.

Another 20-year-old woman and a 16-year-old youth were arrested in the same property in Harlesden Road, Willesden and a 20-year-old man was arrested nearby. A 43-year-old woman was held in Kent a short while later.

All four people are held on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts and are held in custody at a south London Police station.

Police said the Willesden property and people connected to it had been “under observation by counter-terrorism officers as part of an ongoing intelligence-led operation”.
