Gladiator arenas have existed in various forms all over the world since the Edo era in Japan. Wealthy businessmen and merchants employ gladiators to fight in an unarmed battle where the winner takes all. These sorts of contests are referred to as Kengan. An ordinary Japanese salaryman for the Nogi Group, Yamashita Kazuo, observes an alley brawl.
