In the Albanian capital, Tirana was arrested a Macedonian citizen who fought on the side of the Islamic state. Against him had been issued an international arrest warrant.
The order for the arrest of the 46-year-old man from the town of Gostivar (ethnic Albanian) was issued a year ago, but he was able to hide in Albania. Local television “Ora News” reported that he was arrested by an anti-terrorist brigade. According to the television, he had fled from Macedonia a year ago and has since been hiding in Tirana.
His detention has happened thanks to the exchange of information between the special services of the two countries. In his search were involved and western departments. The man was handed over to the judicial authorities, which must initiate a procedure for extradition.
We recall that the Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov has repeatedly warned that from the battlefields of the Islamic State in the country have returned at least 80 people.
