The American science fiction TV series created after the 1965 series of the same name has been a huge hit among fans since Netflix released it on April 13, 2018. The second season immediately followed on December 24, 2019 and it features stars like Molly Parker, Taylor Russell and guest stars Angela Cartwright, Bill Mumy and Selma Blair.

With fans being hooked on the story that follows the adventures of a family of space colonists, the Robinsons family who was chosen for the 24th mission of the Resolute, many are anticipating the release of Lost in Space season 3 on Netflix. But when exactly will it be coming out?

There have been no confirmations from Netflix.

This is no surprise since Netflix actually waited a month after releasing Lost in Space season 1 before confirming season 2. According to some sources, however, the third installment of the highly successful show is already in the works. One hint that a third season is inevitable is the fact that season 2 was released on prime bingeing season, which is Christmas Eve.

There’s no exact release date yet.

If you’re a serious Netflix fan, you’ll instantly notice that the company’s scheduling has been a little erratic lately. The show itself premiered on April 2018 with the second season following a few months later.

So the third season could either be near or far, only Netflix could say for sure. Predictions say that if the new installment doesn’t come in April, it could be another year ender release.

The same cast will play, and then some more.

Of course, Lost in Space wouldn’t be without the Robinson family, so you can definitely expect the same faces for season 3. Parents John and Maureen with their kids Judy, Will and Penny are staples of the show. Some regulars may also be renewed including Sibongile Mlambo and villains Ignacio Serricchio and Parker Posey.

The evolution of the show is something that fans will definitely look forward to. According to co-writer Matt Sazama, “I mean you know (the) Robinson family will go on forever. But the story that we started with (the) pilot with the robots and everything else we want to have, we know what the ending is.” Lost in Space has become popular because of its unique story and a tradition of messing with genres. As fans wait for the release of season 3, there’s still much to be excited about season 2.
