Fans of the American science fiction horror series Stranger Things have been waiting for its fourth installment since last year. First released in 2016, the series became a huge hit among fans of all ages because of its unique plots and characters.

The second season was released in 2017 followed by the third and latest season in 2019. But fans obviously want more of Stranger Things that Season 4 has been a long anticipated release on Netflix. But will it be coming out this year?

Season 4 of Stranger Things has been confirmed

On September 30, 2019, Netflix officially confirmed that Stranger Things would be coming back for a fourth installment. It has also been revealed that the show’s creators the Duffer Brothers has signed a multi-year film and series deal with Netflix, which means that fans will be seeing more of Stranger Things and maybe a few other series from the Duffer Brothers in the future.

On the same day, a tweet from the Stranger Things account also said “We’re not in Hawkins anymore” along with a video clip to announce season 4.

To build up on the excitement further, another tweet came out on December 27, 2019 containing an old screenshot of Eleven with another clock emoji.

Just a day before the New Year, Stranger Writers again released a teaser on Twitter confirming that Stranger Things season 4 will indeed be coming out in 2020. Currently, it almost takes a year and a half before a new season is released, which is why a lot of fans are guessing that season 4 will be out on Netflix for Christmas 2020.

Filming dates are already set for the new season

According to some sources, Stranger Things season 4 has started filming on January 7, 2020 and it is set to end on August 5, 2020. The entire season is shot in Atlanta, Georgia under the working title of “Tareco,” which is a Brazilian biscuit, originating from the country’s northeast region.

No one knows the story behind Stranger Things more than the Duffer brothers, so they’re the best people to ask if the series will go beyond season 4.

In an interview with E! News, Ross said: “We don’t actually know. I think, you know, four to five seasons is likely where we’ll en dup, but who knows? I mean, none of this is official, and we know where we want to go. We’re trying to figure out still how long it’ll take to get there, so we’ll see.”
