Minecraft has definitely come a long way since it was first created by Swedish developer Markus Persson as a PC game in 2009 and released as an APK by Mojang in 2011.

From just one million downloads when it started, Minecraft has already sold more than 180 million copies in all platforms—video, mobile and consoles—as of late 2019 with over 112 million monthly active users, making it the best-selling video game of all time.

In Google Play Store alone, Minecraft has already surpassed more than 10 million downloads, and the numbers are increasing each day.

What is Minecraft?

Minecraft started as a sandbox video game that allows players to explore a 3D world where they can get raw materials and craft tools to build structures like houses or even castles in creative mode or mine for weapons and create armors to fight off mobs in survival mode.

Minecraft has since won several awards and is considered one of the most influential video games of all time, with most of its popularity just coming from pure word of mouth and from social media, adaptations and the annual MineCon.

Several spin-offs have also been created including Minecraft Earth, Minecraft Dungeons and Minecraft: Story Mode.

What are the other features of Minecraft?

For those who want to expand their game, Minecraft offers several extra features that could be downloaded together with the app. Marketplace has already surpassed 10 million downloads last year while other add-ons are following suit in popularity.

Minecraft also allows users to use slash commands, realms and multiplayer options to make the game more fun, especially in survival mode.

Why you should download Minecraft on Android?

Since it became available for mobile devices, Minecraft has gained a cult following among gamers who previously had the game on their consoles and PCs.

But if you haven’t tried the game yet on these platforms, Minecraft would be a great addition to your arsenal of games on your phone because it’s relatively easy to play and it can keep you entertained for hours.

You even have the option to play Minecraft with your friends as long as you have a good Internet connection. The game is also easy on your phone even if you have an older Android device.

At $6.99, Minecraft is definitely a good buy from the Google Play Store. But if you can’t decide whether the game is right for you not, Minecraft offers a free 30-day trial in app.
