What Can You Expect from the Dell XPS 13?

If you have missed the release of the XPS 13 from Dell, then get all the facts right by reading this article.

To begin with, it has already made an improvement to its camera placement, aside from giving a boost to its battery life.

What’s New With XPS 13

Basically, the improvements may not be so different from its previous releases. In fact, it has continued to focus on its lineage as one of the best laptops ever.

Despite the stiff competition from its rival tech giants Asus and Huawei, Dell XPS 13 2019 is still without a doubt one of the leading laptops to beat.

Availability And Price

In the U.S., the XPS 13 is available in 3 colors, namely the frost-on-white, rose gold-on-white, and silver-on-black scheme.

The company wants $899 for the first configuration. With this configuration, you will get the following specs.

  • 8th-gen Intel Core i3 processor
  • 4GB 2,133MHz DDR3 memory
  • 128GB PCIe SSD
  • 13.3-inch full HD InfinityEdge display

Three more customizable models are also offered at $2,299 with the following specs.

  • 8th-gen quad-core Intel Core i7 CPU
  • 16GB RAM
  • 2TB PCIe SSD
  • 4K touch display

In the U.K., the Dell XPS 13 will be available at £1,399 with the following specs.

  • Intel Core i5 processor
  • 8GB RAM
  • 256GB SSD
  • 4K touch screen display

On the other hand, the same configuration will be available for Australian buyers, but with a full HD display at AU$2,299.

When it comes to availability though, the U.S. has many different configurations available in comparison to those in Australia and the U.K.

However, it should be obvious to note that high storage options are locked behind some increase in prices. That said, the XPS 13 is still able to compete with rival units of the same price.

Display and Design

If you can recall how the 2018 model looks like, you can say that the Dell XPS 13 is somewhat identical to it.

The greatest update though from last year was fixing its design flaw, which is the webcam.

This time, Dell is getting so proud because of its new 2.25mm webcam design with a 720p widescreen sensor.

It also has 4 far-field microphones that can help you activate and remotely use Alexa or Cortana.

Aside from that amazing feature of the webcam, you may also appreciate the wider frame that can be used to capture friends or colleagues near to you so much easier than before. You can now take 0.9MP stills and 720p videos with great results.

The rest of the specifications are kept the same, particularly the following.

  • Build quality and design language
  • Punchy keyboard
  • Glass-coated touchpad
  • 2 Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports
  • 1 USB-C 3.1 port
  • MicroSD card slot
  • 3.5mm headphone jack
  • Full HD and 4K touchscreen options

There are a couple of features that may not need some fixing though, such as the keyboard and the touchpad.

Nevertheless, the 4K panel is said to be too sharp that it might be a bit of an overkill for a viewing area of 13.3 inches.
