Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA V) was one of the most anticipated video games that we’ve ever seen and within a few months of its release, gamers across the world were already eager for Grand Theft Auto 6.
GTA V came with a lot of improvements over the previous release – GTA IV – such as overall graphics improvements, driving capabilities, and of course, multiple controllable main characters. Release Date for Grand Theft Auto 6
Let’s make one thing clear: Rockstar has made no comments about when Grand Theft Auto 6 is going to be released, the storyline, or where it will be located.
Taking into consideration that GTA V was released back in September of 2013 and GTA IV was released in April of 2008, there’s no doubting that we’re due the next Grand Theft Auto game.
However, Rockstar has made it clear through their marketing efforts that their main priority at the moment is Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR 2) – a Rockstar game series which is similar to GTA, although is set in the wild west – which will be released in late 2018.
A safe bet would be that more information regarding Grand Theft Auto 6 will be released either sometime in early 2019 and at the very latest, 2020. Once RDR 2 has been released, Rockstar will be in a great position to focus on the next phenomenal GTA series addition and we hope that’s exactly what they choose to do.
Will There Be a Grand Theft Auto 6?
Now, even though we’d all love for there to be a Grand Theft Auto 6, Rockstar hasn’t released any official news regarding this game and there’s a small possibility that they either discontinue the series or delay the next release for several years to focus on other projects.
It’s very unlikely that this will happen considering that the GTA series is the most successful series that Rockstar has created, although it’s important to keep an open mind and be prepared.
Grand Theft Auto 6 Location
We can’t emphasise enough that Rockstar hasn’t made any comments regarding GTA 6, although there have been a few unofficial comments made by staff who work on the GTA series. A lot of the information which has been discussed by these staff members is regarding the next GTA location.
In the past, Rockstar officials have publicly revealed that they plan on having a game which incorporates the maps from every GTA game – whether or not this will be GTA 6, we are yet to find out. However, more recently in 2016, it was leaked that Rockstar has been scouting Tokyo, Japan for a video game.
Another location possibility, as mentioned by Leslie Benzies (the president of Rockstar North, who are the creators of the GTA series), is Vice City. That’s right, a lot of GTA fans have been very vocal about how much they enjoyed the Vice City game and Tommy Vercetti’s personality, and Rockstar has taken into account the request for another game located in the same place.

It wouldn’t be fair for us to set a precise release date for Grand Theft Auto 6, as fun as it is to speculate.
Rockstar hasn’t made any official comments about the next game in the GTA series (which may not even be GTA 6) and hopefully, after the release of Red Dead Redemption next year, we’ll see Rockstar focus their efforts on pushing out a new open-world game for us gamers to enjoy.
