Samsung Galaxy S8’s Forth Beta Update Disables Third Party Dock with Samsung DeX

Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are Samsung’s 2017 flagship. The new devices have been provided with top notch technology and a new design. The most notorious features are the bezel-less displays, which have been received with great excitement by fans. The last update to Samsung Experience 9.0 seems to have caused quite a stir for those who enjoy using Samsung DeX.

Samsung DeX UI mode has been disabled with the forth beta update

The South Korean company has been investing a lot of resources to ensure users’ experience improves. Even so, there are still Samsung smartphone owners who prefer using frame drops to access Samsung Experience. To enjoy the full desktop experience has made users acquire expensive first party dock so as to be able to use the DeX feature.

Samsung DeX was used together with hardware such as HP Elitebook X3 LapDock. The forth beta update to Samsung Experience 9.0 disables third party docks with Samsung DeX. This means that users who try to connect their phone to docks cannot enjoy the full Samsung DeX UI mode.

A predictable more on behalf of Samsung

This new update might give a huge disappointment to those who enjoy using Samsung DeX, however, many saw it coming and believe it was expected news. The tech giant has to make money by selling Samsung DeX to customers.

It is not the first time the company tried to lock down features like this. Previously, Samsung prevented users from remapping the Bixby button.

Other companies are also catching up with Samsung. Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro smartphones have the “Easy Protection” feature, powered by Phoenix OS.

The good thing about Easy Protection is that it does not require a dock to be used.
