There was an issue about a particular website named googe.com that has gone viral. It started when a Mac user was once typing the link for the popular search engine Google on his Safari Web browser. But, it turned out that he created a typo which directed him to the googe.com website instead.
So, he aired his concern on one of Google’s product forums. It seemed that he was so desperate that he sought the advice of experts in the field. Fortunately, they were able to notice the said issue and finally shared their opinions regarding the matter.
One expert claims that googe.com has been flagged as a phishing site. However, there were no malware present on the website after running a few more checks. Users are advised to be vigilant enough because there are many unscrupulous individuals setting up domains intentionally with misspelled versions of popular websites such as google.com. The main purpose was to catch users unintentionally making the typo.
However, this should not be a concern because if you have a malware program running in the background, potentially harmful websites can be detected and blocked. However, if you didn’t have a typo and yet you were redirected on the same googe.com site, then you may have already acquired the malware on your computer, which you need to check using your anti-malware app.
You can even spot a fake website, which is potentially a phishing site waiting for victims. Among them are those websites trying to send malicious emails, which usually are based on fake websites that eventually ask the users to enter their login credentials.
This can be avoided if you are clever enough to know the signs. Sometimes these phishing websites are masquerading as your bank asking you to update your banking information so they can have access to it without you knowing that your savings has been wiped clean. This can happen if you access fake login pages or click any suspicious ads.
