Android users have a major disadvantage compared to iOS ones. Unless they own a Google device, it takes months or even years until an Android version reaches them. This thing is also true when it comes to Android Oreo.
There are few smartphones that have received the 8.0 version, but it appears that this thing is slowly changing. Oreo was released for Xperia XZ Premium, and now it appears that the update also reached Xperia XZ and Xperia XZs, and it should come to Sony Xperia X Performance soon. When it comes to the XZ devices, they both debuted at IDA 2016 with Android 7.1.
Android 8.0 Oreo is currently rolling out in phases for Sony Xperia XZ and Xperia XZs and the update is available as an over-the-air firmware. If you are not sure if the update is available for you yet you can go to System updates options in the Settings menu.
The Sony phones will finally receive the Oreo features. Some of them include the Picture in Picture mode that allows users to watch videos in a small floating windows, while doing something else at the same time, Google Play Protect integration and new Quick Settings menu.
According to XperiaBlog.net., Sony gave the build version 41.3.A.0.401 for the Oreo update. Next to the Android Oreo features, users can also expect some bonus tweaks. For example, you will be reminded if you leave a task unfinished, such as an emails or messages. Thanks to this update, the Xperia Actions features is enhanced and there are some new community features and gaming.
The update also brings smart text selection that should use the context to offer options and suggestions, and the app shortcuts have been redesigned.
