Sony didn’t waste time in updating some of their smartphones. Android Oreo has been announced in August and immediately after the announcement, Sony has released a list with all their compatible smartphones that are going to get the update.

Among that list of 10 smartphones compatible with the new version of the OS there were Sony Xperia XZ and Xperia XZs. Two months and a half later, these two smartphones have started getting the Oreo update.

These two smartphones have been released at different times – Sony Xperia XZ got launched last year with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box and the other one, the Xperia XZs got launched this year and it came with Android 7.0 Nougat.

The Oreo update will bring interesting new features, such as smart text selection, autofill framework and more to both smartphones. Users will also get the latest security patch, which was released on November 1, with build number 41.3.A.0.401.

What to Do Before Updating Your Smartphone: Sony Xperia XZ / Xperia XZs

Remember to back-up important files and data before you update your OS. Make sure you have more than 1 GB free space for the update.

The size of the update is bigger than 1 GB and should be downloaded through a Wi-Fi connection, if you want to save data.

Check to have at least 60% battery on the smartphone before you start the update, as the process will drain some of it and you want to make sure the installation will go smoothly until the end.

Other smartphones from Sony that have been confirmed to receive the Oreo update are: Xperia X, Xperia X Performance, Xperia X Compact, Xperia XZ Premium, Xperia XA1, Xperia XA1 Ultra, Xperia Touch, and Xperia XA1 Plus.
