It is a busy month for Samsung. Two important updates are available for S8 users: the security patches for November and the third Android 8.0 Oreo beta. Right now it seems that these updates are available for S8 users.

If you are a beta tester than you will get both these updates as one, and if you are not you will receive the November security patch separately, as an OTA that should be available soon.

The third Oreo beta

The Oreo beta firmware appears to be available only for the beta testers from UK. The next ones that should receive the upgrade are the ones from South Korea and United States. This third Oreo also brings the November security patch.

The update has 623 MB and it comes with multiple bug fixes. It appears that there is also a new feature that will allow you to hide the “Apps running in the background notification”. There should be some Bluetooth stability enhancements as well. Another issue that will be hopefully fixed is the one that came with the second beta and cause devices to stop receiving network signal.

The November security patch

If you are not in the beta program you will also receive the security patch for November, but you will get it as an OTA that should be released very soon. Apparently, it has already been released in Netherlands so the rest of the world should receive it as well.

The patch is also quite big, and you will need to have 545 MB available for it. The build number for the latest patch is G950FXXU1AQK7. The update fixes over 60 exploits, including the Wi-Fi KRACK vulnerability that represented a risk for every user.
