OnePlus has released this Thursday the newest smartphone: OnePlus 5T. Most of us taught that the device will come with Android 8.0 Oreo, but instead it comes with Android 7.1.1 Nougat pre-installed. However, recent leaks suggest the smartphone will receive the Android OS update next year.

OnePlus 5T is not the only one to receive the Oreo update

OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T have many software items in common such as the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chipset, the same RAM amount and more. Therefore, OnePlus decided that both devices will receive the newest Android 8.0 Oreo OS.

The new OS is to be released, according to the Chinese company, sometime at the beginning of 2018. This might be doable considering that OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T received Android Nougat 7.0 by the end of 2016. OnePlus 3T is the predecessor of the OnePlus 5 variants because according to Chinese superstitions the number 4 is not auspicious.
