The huge success and popularity of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has led people to believe that there should be a sequel to it. In fact, Bethesda Game Studios has confirmed this issue on a number of occasions.
However, the marketing director of Bethesda, Pete Hines, has given more insights on why the new game is not coming any time soon. Hines stated that this might be in the best interest of the game and the developers.
Nevertheless, The Elder Scrolls VI will definitely happen in the near future. It can be recalled that Bethesda already said something about the game in August 2016, which stated that it was not yet in production. But, it is never an indication that there were no plans of pursuing it.
It was also stated in 2016 that there were 3 big projects in the works, but there was no word as of that moment how many were being developed in the Bethesda Game Studios.
Currently, Hines has told the media that the developers wanted to work on something after the release of Fallout 4. Fallout 4 was a game that beat Skyrim and became the most successful game of Bethesda. But Bethesda Game Studios wouldn’t want people to consider them as developers of Fallout or Elder Scrolls only. Thus, they wanted to be specific on what they are going to do next via self-determination.
People would want to get Elder Scrolls VI soon, but those behind the development would want to do stuff they are passionate about. So, perhaps this might be determined when the next 2 titles would come out and how The Elder Scrolls VI would perform with respect to those games. Hines added that people should also know that it will take a while before these things would happen.
