One of the most irritating things about using online messaging apps is the fact that you can never take back what you said. This gets quite annoying especially when someone types a message for their friend and sends it to their boss by mistake. Luckily, this is not going to be an issue anymore for WhatsApp users since a new APK update introduces a feature that allows them to delete messages.

WhatsApp Messenger 2.17.422 Beta

The latest version of WhatsApp that includes the previously mentioned feature is 2.17.422 beta. As the apps’ build number implies, this update is available to only beta users. Therefore, WhatsApp users who want to receive this cool feature ahead of everyone else should make sure to enlist in the app’s beta program.

Moreover, WhatsApp users who are interested in downloading this update should make sure that their smartphone is running on a minimum of Android 4.1 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. We should also mention that WhatsApp is allowing anyone to enroll in its beta program and that the only thing it asks in return is serious feedback so that it can improve the app’s performances and to make it more stable.

APK Update

APK stands for Android Package Kit and as you can probably already tell, Android users are the only ones allowed to download it. These special updates are always released weeks before the official OTA (over the air) roll out so that beta users can test how the new features work and to make sure that there aren’t any bugs.

Nonetheless, WhatsApp users will be able to delete messages they sent by mistake by simply long pressing on a message and selecting the “Delete for everyone” option. In addition, this option will be available only with messages that have been sent in the last 7 minutes.
