Blizzard has been gathering a great number of people to develop a new Diablo. It’s nothing official, keeping their new project under the name of ‘Unannounced Project’.
A Diablo fan opened a topic in the battle.net forums, pointing towards the idea that there is going to be a Diablo 4 in the future and that it might look different from what we’ve experienced so far.
Diablo 4 Might be an Isometric MMORPG
The new Diablo would look like ‘Lost Ark’ or ‘Lineage Eternal: Twilight Resistance’, featuring an open world, trading, PVP, raids, dungeons, loot, crafting, exploration and more.
Although this is his personal point of view, he might be right. Blizzard is still looking for more staff for their ‘Unannounced Project’, from 3D and 2D designers to developers.
The Game Director of Heroes of the Storm talked about this project in December 2016 and called it ‘The most ambitious and promising project of my career’.
Epsilons, the fan that came up with this theory, expected to find out more on this project this year at BlizzCon, but nothing has been mentioned. So, our only hope is to hear more at the next year’s convention.
There Are Features Developed for Diablo 2 and 3 That Haven’t Been Introduced so Far! – They Could Be Used in Diablo 4!
According to Epsilons, there are some old features that could help with the work on the new Diablo 4. Before having released Diablo 2, there was a Town Hub instance for trading that was canceled because there wasn’t enough time to put every detail in order.
Moreover, the first iteration of Diablo 3 by Blizzard Nord in 2003-2004 period was meant to be like World of Warcraft. So, the possibility of having Diablo 4 as an MMORP doesn’t sound so far-fetched anymore.
Other fans responded, arguing that Blizzard wouldn’t create another MMORPG to create competition for WoW. Whatever they’ve been working on so far, sounds great and very big, looking at how many people Blizzard has been and is still recruiting for this ‘Unannounced Project’.
