The Italian news agency ANSA reported that two Syrians were detained in Sicily on terrorism suspicions while a G7 meeting was held at another part of the Italian island.

Italian anti-terrorism police detained the two Syrians on Saturday after they arrived on the island on a ferry from Malta. They arrived in the port of Pozzallo, about 130 kilometers away from the place of the world top leaders meeting.

According to the police report there were images of suicide bombers with explosive belts on their phones. Police also said that the two appear to have ties to Libya. Their identity was not revealed but they had been registered as refugees in Italy according to the report. One of the detained is a minor and the other is 25 years old.
