At least one person was killed after two explosions at the University of Maiduguri in northern Nigeria. Suicide bombers are suspected to be responsible.

The first blast occurred at about 10:50 p.m. on Thursday at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine on the campus, Abu Babati, the president of the students’ union, said by phone.

A second explosion rocked a women’s hostel, killing a campus security guard, according to another student, Mohammed Ibrahim.
