Local media in Syria reported that a large blast hit the area of Damascus International airport and caused fire early in the morning of Thursday, April 27. The attack is attributed to a possible Israeli airstrike.

The large explosion was heard in the city of Damascus and a few videos also emerged showing burning fuel or gas at fuel tanks and military warehouses at the airport. Rami Abdulrahman, head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also reported of the explosion: “The blast was huge and could be heard in Damascus.”

The extent of the damage is yet to be determined.

According to some local sources there were five airstrikes against the airport or its vicinity, which are blamed on Israel but there is no official confirmation received so far.
