The police in Nigeria confirmed that three suicide bombers blew themselves up while attempting to enter the city of Maiduguri.

Police spokesman Victor Isuku said that two man attempted to enter the city when security agents spotted them. The suicide bombers had explosive vests on themselves, which they detonated upon being approached by the guards, which led to their death. No civilians were injured.

Isuku also confirmed that another bomber blew himself up at a different location and injured a civilian.

The northeastern city has witnessed several such attacks with dozens dead. The bombings are blamed on Boko Haram Islamic extremists. There were many other bombers who were stopped by the soldiers and the civilian self-defense militia.

So far about 20,000 people have lost their lives in the Islamic uprising in Nigeria, which continues for more than 7 years.
