At least two personnel of Levies force were injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Bajaur Agency, Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) on Monday.

The explosives planted by the roadside went off as the personnel patrolled Naik Banda Mamond area of the agency, political administration said. The two personnel were shifted to the agency headquarters in Khar where their condition was said to be out of danger. Meanwhile, the forces commenced a search operation in the area to find the culprits behind the attack.

Earlier on August 19, a security official was killed while a civilian was injured when an improvised explosive device went off at a water spring in Bajaur Agency.Similarly, on August 9, roadside bomb blast killed two security personnel in the agency. The outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) had later claimed responsibility for the attack.

Bajaur Agency shares a border with Afghanistan, as well as Mohmand Agency and Malakand Division, and has been cleared after military operations in 2008-9. However, there have been several attacks on security officials and pro-government tribal elders in the area since then.
