The Criminal Security Department in Hama arrested a member of a terrorist cell that had committed acts of armed robbery and kidnapping in Salamyieh City.

Hama Police Chief Maj. Gen. Ashraf Taha told SANA on Monday that based on investigations and information on the existence of a network committing acts of kidnapping and armed robbery in Salamyieh area in the eastern countryside of the province, the Criminal Security Department carried out focused investigations and it was able to find evidence on those who are involved in the aforementioned crimes.

Taha indicated that a member of the terrorist cell was arrested following a stakeout near one of the cell’s hideouts, and an amount of ammunition and a weapon was found in his possession.

He added that the arrested person confessed that he participated in 10 counts of kidnapping and armed robbery against civilians in Salamyieh area, adding that investigations are underway to arrest the rest of his accomplices.
