Man attacked with a knife two policemen in a park in the neighborhood Molenbeеk in Brussels.

Belgian media reported that none of the two policemen was hurt because law enforcement officers wear protective vests, Interfax reported.

The motives for the attack remain unknown. The attacker was arrested.

The police have not yet commented on the incident. The prosecution announced that at the first possible moment will provide more information. Prosecution spokesman Ine Van Wymersch stated that at the time is being verified the identity of the attacker.

According to the newspaper La Derniere Heure a woman who was in the park, had warned the police patrol for a man who was walking around with a knife in his hand.

The man became aggressive when approached by the police officers and after the attack tried to flee but was detained by a second patrol.

A source of the edition from the police informed that if the identification is confirmed, it is an already known of the services 24-year-old illegal immigrant.

The Molenbeek neighborhood caught the attention after several people in the neighborhood were involved in last year’s attack by the Islamic state in Paris.

In Molenbeek there’s been for years an aggregating immigrant population, mostly of Muslims and after the terrorist attacks in Paris and Brussels, a number of Western media have identified the neighborhood as a hotbed of terrorism.
