A powerful explosion erupted in the eastern Turkish city of Elazig, informed the TV channel “Haber Turk”.

At least three people were killed and over 120 were wounded from the attack carried out by a car bomb, said sources from the security forces.

The incident occurred near a police building. According to witnesses at the site many ambulances have arrived. Hospitals in the city have begun a campaign for blood donation.

Authorities believe for the explosion was responsible the Kurdistan Workers Party(PKK).

The incident happened in the garden of a four-storey building in Elazig, conservative not Kurdish province, which has not been affected by the conflict between the Turkish authorities and members of the PKK.

Earlier today, at least three people died and more than 71, including civilians, were injured in the explosion of a car bomb in front of another police station in the town of Van, in eastern Turkey, reported the Anadolu agency.

Among the 71 injured, three of them are in a serious condition and 17 are police officers,” said the leader of the ruling in the province “Justice and Development Party” Zahir Soganda. All the dead were civilians.

For the moment none of the active terrorist groups in the area has claimed responsibility for тхе explosion.

The police have managed to arrest on the site of the blast a wounded alleged bomber, suspected of having driven the car bomb.

The city of Van has a mixed Turkish-Kurdish population. It is a popular tourist site and so far had not been a subject to such attacks.
